No its SHAKESPEAR the cat (not the playwriter)

Whenever I mention my cats, I have to tell them about my cat with loads of personality- Shakespear. Werid or strange name for a cat? I'll explain this later on in the blog.

I was 10 years old, and wanted another kitty! (I already adopted Tiger). Getting another fur baby seemed to have only positive outcomes. A companion for Tiger and me. I read the PennySaver, and soon I found 2 little black and white kittens ready to be rehomed. A male and female, $60 each. This kitty was suppose to live at my mom's house (divorced parents). But my mom lives close to the mountains, or coyote territory. I've already lost a cat to coyotes. :(

Dad and me went to the house, and i could tell she had cat problems. A lot of furniture was outside. You couldn't tell where the front door was. When the seller came out, she had one kitten- the female. And she wouldn't allow us to go in the house. I think she had a population problem, like one of those shows on Animal Planet "Confessions: Animal Hoarding". I wanted the female, I guess I already favored a gender. But mom didn't want to deal with future baby kitties.

I took the male, gave her the money. After a few short months I changed it so the little kitty lived in a better house, dads house. Where he got vaccines and neutered. And tons of attention (but he wants more anyway).

The name... Theres this show I loved "Meerkat Manor". And I was obssessed with it! I wrote all the names down, and when I got an name-less cat... This kitty looked like an oreo, that was an option. Then the name Ozy after a meerkat in the show. And "Shakespeare" after a loyal, kind meerkat in the show. I ended up naming that little kitten "Shakespeare". After a year though, the "e" dropped. It was silent anyway. I did get a collar for Shakespear, and it had his "original" name on it, spelled with the E.

The collar didn't last long. I relized it could get caught on a branch or something, and since he's an indoor/outdoor cat. I didn't let him wear it anymore. When he got more street smarts i took it off.

Tiger and Shakespear got along okay. Tiger still thought she was queen of the house, and Shakespear still respects that.

How well does Steel and Shakespear get along? Poor Steel, Shakespear just loves to tease him. A little paw swap or hiss. Steel avoids him as much as possible.

Personality? He's a big purrer! He purrs for 40% of his day or so. Usauly on my bed while I'm watching TV, and he's relaxing. Shakespear also meows when he wants in, and doean't respect the fact that I'm asleep, (Blossom too).

Be careful if Shakespear if frisky! It starts with rubbing and purring, his tail swishing against you. Then he nips you! Dad calls it a "love bite". Dads be bite on the ear, nose, legs, and arms. I've been slightly nippped, kinda hurts. Shakespear knows I hate it when he does that, I'll stop his "frisk seccion" in half when I can tell he'll bite!

I have no idea how, but Shakespear can open closets! I was interupted by his running around my room when I see him reaching the closet walls. Next thing I know, Its open a foot wide!

Shakespear has done about everything to get me to open the door. Running around, scratching up the bed, drinking my cup of water, jumping on tables, and the 'tear the carpet' act. He knows I'll open the door.

Shakespear's birthday is on november. 21. He's 4 now, and will become 5 in a couple months.

What a wonderful story about Shakespear!!!  I think you are well on your way to becoming a great writer.  Shakespear is beautifull, but I feel sorry for Steel getting teased like that.  Thanks for sharing the Brianna.
