walking your dog everyday

Dogs need to walk. Dogs cant be indoors or in the backyard all day. Why? dogs naturaly need to migrate somewhere. I take my dog on an average of 2, 35 minute bike runs every day. Dogs need a minunum of 40 minutes out of the house, walking. Not in a car or in a fenced area. Fun ways to walk your dog, bike rides, scooter walks, jogging, running, walking, picnic or outdoor party. Taking a dog to a park is good too. Try taking the dog to the pet stores like petsmart and petco, they allow pets. Some… Continue

My dogs health problems

My dog steel is an awsome dog. I got him from a rescue and he is perfect. But he has so many health issues. He has fleas and so do the cats, but we give them flea medicine and flea bomed the house and they still live. But the biggest problem is that the fleas bite my dog to the point where he's chewing his tail. Why? We had no idea what our dog was doing, so I took the dog to the vet. The vet said steel is suffering from fleas only, that if a flea bit him on the nose, steel will chew his tail… Continue

How to get an awsome dog at an animal shelter

Adopting at shelters and rescues should be the first thing that comes to mind when you are going to get a dog. Weather this is your first dog or third, always prepare for another arrival. Make sure you have time for another member of the family. Think of these questions, and disscuse with the rest of the family, what kind of breed, the size of the dog, the temper, personality. Lots to think of. When you have this done, you can find the dog. Since lots of dogs are put down every day because… Continue

moving forward but feeling guilty about neutering

Knowing neutering is a good thing and moving forward, but for some reason I don't feel good about it, why must one feel this? all the data is on the wall that this is good, but my feelings are leading towards guilt, I guess this is emotion that one goes threw as the time get closer, is this normal? it's funny to feel this emotion. Im looking deep into my emotion, cause I want to feel good about this decision, I don't why Im going threw this, is it fear why? or is it guilt?...

Still hope for the Exmoor Emperor

Reports are coming out in the British Press that it may be a false alarm after all. What is thought to be the largest deer in the UK was reported to have been killed by hunters last week to the consternation of animal lovers all over Britain, but reports of sightings from locals may prove that the worst has not happened.…

Pet Smarts

They can make you happy, keep you fit, even lower your blood pressure. Owning a cat or dog is a prescription for good health.

They Help Your Heart - Simply petting a dog or cat can lower your blood pressure. Holding a pet triggers a relaxation response, explains Alan Beck, ScD., director of the Center for the Human-Animal Bond, at Purdue University. It helps you stay focused on the present, as opposed to dwelling on the past or worrying about the…

I am not sure if I owe an apology? About spouting my cats cancer in the wrong place?

I realized that I wrote about Kolbies tumor on the voting page and it is not there now. I was not trying to do anything wrong or ruin the mood at all. When I came online, I had just found his tumor and I think I was not only hurting but hoping that my other fur parents would understand. I really did not mean to put it in the wrong place. Kolbie has had 2 surgeries already but this time I do not have the money right now so it is very frightening. He has Cancerous MAST tumors that grown on his…

Dogs have feelings

Animals just like humans experience pain, grief, and joy. I remember grandma’s german shepherd grieving after she died. So much so that he died on the very next day after she passed away. He will walk in circles all day &…

The Animal Activist's Handbook

The Animal Activist's Handbook is full of good sense, thoughtful advice, and practical action on helping all of us to reduce the needless suffering of our fellow creatures. I highly recommend it. Do You Have Too Many Pets?

Some people can't say no to another animal. They want to adopt or rescue as many as they can. They work hard to be caring pet owners, but sometimes they get overwhelmed. Owning too

many pets can put a strain on them, their homes, their finances, their families and even their pets. It may even put them in danger of having their animals confiscated, of being fined or even arrested. Nobody wants to see that…

Autumn Memoirs

I get a little nostalgic in these autumn days. Childhood scenes flash through my head & my heart beats faster trying to keep up with my thoughts, work, & life in general. This is my favorite time of the year. The weather is gentle inspiring me to meditate & dwell on my sentimental thoughts. Everybody is looking forward to Christmas & I just want to get stuck here in time. I…

Bandit and his ABC News Story

Many of you know that Bandit came down with a very serious onslaught of illnesses in mid August. When I googled all that was wrong, and talked to his vet, his survival consesus was 5%. Luckily, he's a miracle dog, and is well on the road to recovery. I've written a couple of updates on my page, but wanted to share his story. A FB friend, who we've never met, contacted ABC news to request they do a story to help Bandit with his medical expenses. It was aired on 10/8/10, and the link is attached.… Continue

Loads of changes

Well holy cow did we ever get a surprise with Comet. It turns out she has no mountain dog in her. However, we've been told by 9 different people who have or have had an irish wolfhound, that she is the smallest one they have ever seen. She has to have some sort of border collie in her, and we can't totally figure out where her ears came from.

Her coat has that weird sparseness, her shape is identical, only a shorter version, and as she is getting older her face fur is getting…
