Although I'm better known under my own name as an author of dark psychological thrillers, this is me under the guise of my true self, dog lover, trainer and rescuer.

My latest book release

I'm pleased to announce that my latest release from my Harry Porter's Dog Tales series, Dylan's Tale is now also available in the UK from Amazon.co.uk and is currently being offered with an introductory 10% discount. It is also available from Amazon.com and direct from the publisher at 4RV Publishing

Dylan's Tale

Dylan's Tale is the second in the series Harry Porter's Dog Tales, which tell the stories of seven dogs rescued from lives of abuse or neglect. The series began with Tilly's Tale, and the beautiful Bedlington Terrier, Dylan, soon joined Tilly. Dylan is a "posh" dog, meaning a pure breed with pedigree and proud heritage. He is the "aristocrat" of Porter's pack of rescue dogs.
Beaten, battered and abused for the first eleven months of his life, Dylan found a new lease of life after being rescued and placed in the loving warmth of Harry Porter's family of rescue dogs. With many hurdles to overcome, including fear of humans and with the threat of being beaten always in his mind, Dylan found love when he least expected it. Read his uplifting story in this enchanting book from the pen of dog lover and rescuer, Harry Porter

The Incredible Stories of Harry Porters famly of Rescued Dogs.

4RV Publishing are now able to accept pre-orders for my forthcoming release Wolf, due for release in June 2011.Wolf is a tense adventure story, beautifully illustrated by Theresa Stites, aimed at readers in the teen/young adult market, but is suitable for readers of all ages.

The gray wolf is now, sadly, on the endangered species list, and I hope that Wolf will go some way towards educating people as to the qualities of this noble beast. How sad it would be if our children and grandchildren one day find that the only way they can see a wolf is through pictures, or a stuffed inanimate animal in a natural history museum.

About Wolf

Living the good life in their cabin close to the forest, Warren and Emma are disturbed to find their livestock disappearing in the night. Tracks in the snow lead them to believe their chickens may have fallen victim to a marauding wolf, and Warren sets out to track down the uninvited predator. What he discovers, as the snow begins to fall and he draws ever closer to his prey, will surprise and delight the reader as the truth about the wolf in the night reveals itself, changing Warren’s life for ever!

“A story full of soul, exploration, nature, and wolfish delight.”

Graeme S Houston, author and publisher

To pre-order a copy of Wolf, please go to 4RV Publishing where it can be ordered for just $12.55. The book will then be dispatched as soon as it becomes available from the publisher.

AVAILABLE NOW FROM MYTHICA PUBLISHING Harry Porter's exciting teen/young adult short story e-book: 'Arcadia 22 Heavy - Mayday

The story follows captain Matthew Berwick as he takes charge of a Boeing 777 - 300 for the first time. Though an experienced pilot, he can't shake the feeling that something is going to go wrong. Unfortunately for Matthew his worst fears are realised and what should have been a short night flight, looks like it could become a lot shorter!

Features 6 illustrations: transporting the reader instantly into the midst of the action! Each captures the feel of the story, adding a subtle new dimension impossible to recreate with words alone.

"I couldn't put it down. As soon as the engine exploded, and everything went haywire, I was hooked. A sure-fire hit with young-adults and adults alike." -- Gregory Alter, Writer, Novelist.

Make your own banner at MyBannerMaker.com!The two pictures below are of my lovely dachshunds Sophie and Candy, both of whom left us in 2006, Candy was 11 and Sophie 13 when they went to the Rainbow Bridge. I rescued them when they were 4 and 5 years old, they'd spent all their lives together, and they were as loving and faithful as one could wish. Little Candy had fought with Diabetes for two years, and Sophie just reached a point where she had to go and get some rest after years of being my best friend.
Below the photos is a poem I wrote for them. Its the way I like to think they thought about me.

ASLEEP
(For Sophie and Candy)

Don't think me dead, for I'm only sleeping.
So please don't cry, I can't bear you weeping.
I know you loved me oh so much,
I felt it in your every touch.
You gave me all a dog could need,
And I tried my best your thoughts to read.
I loved to walk, I loved to play,
As every dog does, every day.

But now the time has come I fear,
When I must leave those I love so dear.
For all dogs have a special place,
Where there's no cars or noise, just open space.
A space to play for evermore,
To bark and run to shake a paw.
We never know just when to go
Sometimes you have to help you know.

So it's grateful thanks and love I send
That you were with me at the end.
Don't be afraid for me my friends,
Where I sleep now, playtime never ends.
I'll always be there in a way,
Close your eyes, see me at play.
And as you walk along the street
Look back now and then, guess who's at your feet?

So don't think me dead, for I'm only sleeping,
And I know in your heart, my love you're keeping!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone where I take my dogs for training gave the following to me. I hope you enoy it as much as I did.

A Dog's Purpose, (from a 6-year-old)

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.

Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life-- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Be always grateful for each new day.

Poor Sasha has broken her leg AGAIN!

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 9:00am 4 Comments

I've just come back from seeing the orthopedic surgeon, and poor Sasha has broken her leg again when she landed badly while playing the other day. He is going to operate again on Monday and we have to try and keep her quiet and on strong painkillers until then. He'll be putting a new screw and a plate in the joint after resetting the bones again. We love her so much and hate to… Continue

Brian honey are there laws restricting the amount of dogs u can have? I think that you have made a good effort in trying to calm the situation and the council should see that u have given a home to dogs that have no other place to go. Have you told the neighbors that you re-homed some dogs and that you have made an effort to try and calm the situation and maybe the council should consider that fact that their is a fox harrassing you and your neighborhood. I worry about your health my friend and the stress for you and your wife. your doing a good thing, i know its hard. We are going thru hard times as well, no money and i may have to put zena to sleep as the diabetes costs over 100.00 a month, with insulin, needles ect. But i will sell everything first, before i give up my baby girl.. Know we are thinking of you, try and just take 1 hour out of the day and distract your self with a movie and rest and relax on fathers day ok? hugs wanda

Hi Brian:

My heart is breaking for you and your family!  There has to be something we can do to stop this travesty!  What about if I try to take donations for you to hire an Attorney?  Has the council already made their decision?  I just can't imagine the pain you and your family are going through, please my freind take care of yourself, you don't need to have any more agina attacks you won't help your family or the pups.  God knows I am praying for all of you.  There has to be a way to solve this.  You and your family have done so much and sacrificed so much for the pups, I will God willing find a way to help you.  Much love to you, your beautiful wife and the girls.  Give all the furbabies a big hug and kiss from me.
