Hi everyone,
I'm so pleased for my best friend Dylan, because his wonderful new book, Dylan's Tale, just got a wonderful review from a nice man called mark Henderson at
Amazon.com I hope
you'll all enjoy reading what Mr. Henderson says about the book:
5.0 out of 5 stars Another delightful dog rescue story from Harry Porter,
This review is from: Dylan's Tale (Paperback)
Like its predecessor "Tilly's Tale", Harry Porter's "Dylan's Tale" is a delightful story for children, and not only for children! In this simply-delivered first-person narrative, Dylan the Bedlington Terrier tells us about his life, passing from a puppyhood of abuse and cruelty to his rescue and subsequent happiness with Harry and his family and the other Porter household dogs. The story is charmingly illustrated and it's hard to imagine anyone not enjoying it - and wanting to hug Dylan.
Harry Porter is to be complimented not only for rescuing so many ill-treated dogs and giving them good lives, but also for telling the younger generation how important it is for dogs, like children, to be given unstinting love and care. This book, like "Tilly's Tale", deserves to be widely read, and would make an excellent birthday or Christmas present for a child of late primary school age. I believe this series of stories will contribute to the lessening of animal cruelty and will help young people to appreciate dogs as the wonderful companions they are - when they're treated well.
I said "Not only for children", and I meant it. I bought a copy for a neighbour, 78-year-old widow who loves her Patterdale terrier and finds it impossible to understand how anyone can be cruel to a dog. The book has now been circulated among her friends, all in the same age bracket. "It's a bit weepy to start with," she said, "but the rest of it's lovely." One of her friends said: "See people who treat dogs as that man treated little Dylan? I'd like to treat them the same way so they'd know what it's like". These old ladies are kind-hearted, but they're far from stupid. If Harry Porter can elicit such emotion from them, he can get through to others as well; as many as possible, I hope!
"Dylan's Tale" is highly recommended.
Wasn't that a lovely review? Dylan has asked me to say a really big thank you to Mr. Henderson, so if he is out there and reads this, "Thank you very much for enjoying Dylan's story."
Lots of love
Tilly and Dylan
