Our dear friend Crystal needs all of our support and love now. Her beautiful pup Fred is gone, please everyone show your support to her. We all know what it is like to loose one of our beloved pets.

What a sad situatation this is , all I can say is you all come through at the time that is needed. It is very sad that this has happened. I hope Crystal will see and read what all of you have written. Love to all of you, big hugs and I am so glad you are all here.

Friends Kathi was kind enough to tell us the passing of Fred (above) who was a puppy of heat stroke. please remember if u leave the house and the dogs have no air conditioning and are older, i spray mine down so they are damp, have fans pointing to the area where the dogs are resting. keep all windows that are touched by the sun closed, the heat will come in. open up the house once the sun goes down, open windows and put box fans in the windows, and open a window in the opposite end of the house, u will feel the air get sucked threw, this action will suck cool air through the house.

Dark dogs, ill dogs, older dogs and puppies stroke faster.

i put cool towels under the chest area, don;t wrap the dog in a cold blanket that heat has to get out.

put lots of water, freeze a milk container with water, cut the container off and put ice chunk in a large bowl, (now if you have puppies, just put ice cubes in the water) and put water in it., Change threw the day;

Please remember that this can happen in a short period, so if its hot don;t take the dogs leave them home or get a pet sitter for the day.

If the dog show signs of lethargy, and not it self get to the vet asap. DO NOT WAIT.

Dogs with dibeties can not regulate there heat as well as healthy dogs, do not over exercise in the heat of the day at all, walk in the morning and after 9pm, i keep her sprayed and in front of a fan and lots of water.

Use your instinct, i had a friend say oh zena is fine, i said NO she is not, don't assume, feel their body and if its really hot the ears, chest, get to a cool area. If the dog will not take water, get to the vet ASAP

i want to say this very very loud! ANYONE WITH PETS PLEASE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE SUMMER HEAT! FRI-7-1-11 at 11am my baby Fred had a severe heatstroke and had to be pts... he was only 15mos . . . ... i will forever miss him
