older dogs can still play like puppies,So dont give up on excercise if your dog is a senior citizen.Regular excercise will keep your dog fit and healthier in his older years

1. light walks are great for older dogs suffering with arthritic problems, be aware of the distance you walk and dont overtir your dog

2.if possible spend some of the walk on grassy areas , this lessens the impact on their joints. if your dog starts to limp or show any signs of pain or discomfort let him rest for a while, dont force him to walk just encourage him in a light hearted way

3. giving your dog something to retrieve can be a fun excercise roll a ball gently for him to bring back

4. another godd form of excercise is  Tug O War, dont tug to hard and let him win at least sometimes

5.swimming can relieve alot of pressure on the joints too and again good excercise plus fun for your dog, obviously only allow them to do this activity if both you and the dog are confident about water

ALL VERY GOOD IDEAS. BUT USE COMMON SENSE AND DON'T OVER DO IT. IT SOUNDS GOOD FOR US 2 LEGGED KIND ALSO. LOL
Agreed let you dog dogs show you when they have had enough exercise. They will let you know by being reluctant to move around too much and if they prefer to snooze a few more hours than the previous day let them. They will love you for it. The most important thing is actually just to be with them and make sure they are comfortabel and well stimulated according to their energy level and exercise requirements. consider the breed or mix of breeds you see in your dog hound or mutt.
