The dachshunds should learn how to use the remote.
The doxies will never learn that they don´t have the brains for anything in particular. I grew up with doxies they are marvelous hunters and watch dogs but that is as far as it goes. They have a tendency to be darft as a brush. My sister´s doxie can run upstairs but can´t seem to find her way down. She is funny but there is no one home between the ears as it were.

Lisbeth,i have to disagree. My dachshund Ginger, was the smartest dog i have personally known. She once remained in the kitchen, door closed and nobody home. She pushed a chair to the door and oened it herself with no one having taught her this.

Then, she perfectly knew over 20 commands, which i taught her in less than 5 months.

Doxies have brains, just that most of them are too lazy to use them.

Well Tylah no disrespect to Ginger I am sure she is an execption to the rule. The ones I grew up with were not too bright good hunters yes but not very bright execpt Timmy could show a measure of inteligence once in a while he was quite a caracter he was almost eighteen years when he left us. We had him from he was a pup at eight weeks old. He was born and bred in Karen town Nairobi Kenya and his full name was Heinz Firebrand Finkenstein. He was special too he went with us all over the place he brought him back to Denmark and then we went to India  as well with Timmy as part of the family. Sadly he became a bit of a hand ful later in life he would hunt people out in the street and he tore their trousers apart if he got the chance. He was not too happy with other male dogs either he tried to attack as many as possible. he did however sire a litter of puppies mixed mutts all of them  but that at least was his legacy besides the life we spent with him in the family. So I would say that most doxies execpt Ginger and to a certain extend Timmy are darft as a brush.

Here is a joke or two. Three horses were standing in a paddoc one said to the two others I won 10 out of my twenty races  oh said the other I won twenty out of 30 I won 29 out of my thirty races. I stepped out from behind the haybales and said I won 99 out of my 100 races wow the third horse said a talking dog. Here is one more. A man heard two dog owners talking one said "I know that its said that over time we begin to look like our dogs". Now the one listening in on their conversation was a rather portly gentleman so he gave this a lot of thought and he got himself a beautiful greyhound. A few months later one of the first dog owners saw him from a distance and said to the other" are you sure its not our dogs that begin to look like us instead" The portly gentleman had one big fat greyhound on skinny legs.
