Comment by Bullies2Love on January 28, 2011 at 10:23am: Marina, it isn't about how you raise them; it is about how you train them. For the state of Texas to ban all pit bulls would never happen. That is like saying we have a fear of all white people so therefore if your are white you will be put down or leave the state. To ban the dogs is breaking those who choose to have this breed of dogs constitutional rights. You bet where there is a strong need of BSL you will find PETA behind it has they have the money to fight. However; if the people in Texas do not fight back who's fault is that. It would be a disaster to kill every dog that resembles a Pit Bull. This BSL is like trying to wipe out a race. People find it a solution to their problems and do not even look at the fact "ALL DOGS BITE" and so do people. Look how many children die in the hands of their own parents. A lot more than dog attacks. Why do you think many Pit Bull Advocates are trying hard to educate the public about this #1 dog that use to be the all time favorite dog to own. No one looks at other breeds simply because they refuse too. Besides, if I lived in Texas I would sue the state for violating my rights and demand that all guns be taken out of the states. After all, how many died from the idiot who shot at someone?

When will people understand there are no mean dogs, there are a lot of mean humans? These dogs are like the others, it depend of how you raise them! Shame on humans!

Comment by Kathi on January 27, 2011 at 7:56am: I think the media has focused in on Pitts and won't let go!!! There are other breeds that are much more likely to bite than the Pitties. I just wish the bad rap they have and are getting would stop. I work with Pitties at our SPCA and have found them to be very sweet and loving dogs. I also have had people call my Boxer Mickie a pitt bull! There are so many breeds that look like Pitts that most people can't identify a Pitt from another breed. It is a long uphill battle to save these pups, but I do believe that battle can be won.

Comment by Bullies2Love on January 26, 2011 at 8:39pm: Well, Doberman's are right there with Pit Bulls so I don't see why he doesn't think they aren't aggressive. Long ago this breed had a bad rap too but not like the Pits and that is because we didn't have the media power we have today. However; Pit Bulls started changing in the 70s when the media picked up on dog-fighting in which the dogmen of that time started being a lot more crueler to the Pits.

Wish i had a pit myself, but my dad is one of those people that thinks they are agressive. Even though he's meet lots of friendly pits at the dog park. He's a doberman lover.
