No bad rap for these black dogs or any others. Bandit is a multi-talented therapy dog to veterans, children and his own father with help from his website and New Media presence. Orlando is a seeing eye dog who saved his owner from a subway train and then was saved himself by an online crowdfunding campaign. And Lady walked 30 miles with a bad leg to find her owner only to be turned away, and then in a true fairy tale twist was rescued by a dog-loving heiress who found her through New…

When a dog gets lost it is no party. I have discussed GPS gadgets for dogs in the past. As technology is constantly evolving, smaller lighter units are appearing on the market. Here are some new devices. I have included devices that are not yet in mass production. They are available for pre-orders. Finally will be able to keep track of our little dogs as well as the…

Well, I have tried yet another new product! I don't know if you can tell by now, but I mayyy have a little bit of an addiction to buying my pets all different things!! :) All though, unfortunately she was not a fan of this one. It was the Kyjen brand slow eater maze. She already has a bowl that has a food stopper in it and she does like it, but this one I actually returned due to she would not eat out of it.…

Hello everyone! I have an exciting new product that I wanted to share with you. I just received my sample orders from Wondercide. This company is very interesting in that every product that they sell is all natural! The products I am trying are the "Evolv" Flea & Tick Control. It is natural and organic made with all natural cedar scent. I cannot wait to try this out when taking my girl on the disc golf course…

Living in the Midwest in the Summer means humid, hot days. I am always trying to find ways to cool off my bulldog. I came across this easy and delicious frozen dessert and wanted to share with everyone. I don't usually use measuring devices, I just add more of what she likes best. So you will need strawberries (or your pups favorite fruit), plain greek yogurt, peanut butter, and raw honey. Mix it all in the…

Do any of you know about a dog having a hematoma because the have shaked their head so much that this occurs? My Mickie has been treated for this and been on prednisone, and ointment for this condition. Now a few weeks later her ears are really swollen and the vet says she needs to have surgery. Well that surgery will cost over 3000.00 dollars and I truly can't afford that. If anyone has a suggestion or knows where I can get more information I would appreciate any help you can give…

Our family dog, Buster, is 45 pounds of high maintenance schnauzer. He loves his family, friends, and walks in the park. Hates include the front door, the doorbell on the other side of the door, and anyone who knocks on the door or rings the doorbell. Buster is not a very 'good' dog but he is still one of my best friends and he has taught me many things. To view what Buster has taught me about 'loving with passion' visit Buster's blog.

Cysts inside the eye are a common and benign problem we see in dogs and, less commonly, cats on a regular basis. The ciliary body, which produces the fluid which bathes the front part of the eye, is lined by pigmented cells. In some instances, this tissue will bud off in the process of making fluid which causes a pigmented, fluid filled structure to peek out from behind the iris. As the processs continues, this…

It can happen when dogs become New Media stars and use their fame to save other dogs of course! Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and even Kindle eBooks have become platforms for adopted dogs-turned-online superstars, and they are giving back to dogs-in-need in some big ways. There’s Poppy, a rescue dog from Fiji, who has raised funds through Facebook and Kindle eBooks for dogs in her homeland. In Chicago, there’s that Manny the Frenchie, an Instagram sensation with over 500,000 followers who has…

This lovely holiday weekend, Kyra and I were visiting my mom, and we decided to make Kyra an artist by doing paw print painting. It was so much fun and the memories will last just as long as the paintings will! I would advise anyone who wants to try this to make sure your dog is good and tired first, otherwise you will have quite a mess on your hands! Kyra is pretty lazy anyway and kept laying on the paint, so…

We are now in the hottest time of the Summer. I have some tips to guide you to keep dogs safe. I also have a few interesting products and gadgets that could come in handy to keep your dogs cool in the hot weather. First of all, heat exaustion can sneak up on dogs as well as people. The first signs that indicate that a dog is at risk for heatstroke include:
• Panting
• Seeking a cool/shady spot
• Excessive salivation
• Enlarging tongue
• Red…

Uh oh… The 4th of July is drawing closer. I can visualize my dogs on that evening. As the fireworks blast, Beverly (AKA Bevi) is fine, but Harriet is a whole different story. When she hears loud noises the panting starts, her tongue is out, and her eyes practically pop out of their sockets. She trembles on my love seat which makes sitting next to her feel like an experience with a cheap coin-operated vibrating bed in trashy old motel rooms long ago. When Harriet hears a sudden loud noise she…

As you all know, I am a HUGE animal lover. Not only do I love to rescue dogs and cats (just one cat for now), but I also enjoy learning about other ways to help our furry friends. Finding free apps on iTunes, such as Pawcard, attending animal themed charity walks, reading…

So it has been about a week since I have been using the AVP UV pet fountain I found on DIY Networks "I Want That". It looks very nice and the UV and LED light looks great in the dark. I am having a problem with having a foamy build up in the main part of the dish where the fountain hits the water. I read into this a little bit and came to the conclusion that I may have hard water. Last night I cleaned out the entire thing including the charcoal filter (which works amazing at taking out all…

So if there is one thing that Kyra loves as much as treats, its playing a puzzle to get to the treats! She has several of them and in another post I will talk about all of them and the ones I believe are worth the money (they are quite expensive). But I just got her a new one called the Magic Mushroom, and she does have a hard time getting the treats out, which makes it completely worth the money! I purchased this product…

After having an Animal Planet brand water fountain for about 1 year it finally broke. It was a fairly cheap item and also was the first fountain I have ever purchased for Kyra. So this time I decided I am going to purchase for quality and filtration rather than what is the cheapest. Sometimes what you buy is what you get and I am certain this holds true for doggie fountains as well. I have made a purchase and will be receiving…

I had been waiting for the pet expo since December 2013. The weekend had finally arrived and I was pumped. I was also excited to debut my newest pet parent shirt that reads: “Yes…I do love my dog as much as you love your child.”
