It has been a while since I have gotten up on my "Doghouse" so to speak. The "oldies" know there are times when I use my blog to vent, rant, and rave. Today is one of those days. As many of you know, I work at a shelter. Many difficulties go along with it. Lately something has really been bugging the heck out of me. Recently we have had quite a few very young dogs come in,…

Fellow Pet Owners I hope you find this as amusing as I did!

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years -- canine or feline attendance is not required.

Rosie is the worst! She will try and squeeze herself…

I'M BACK!

For those of you that have kept in touch and still left comments I thank you. December is a horrible month for me for many reasons and this year there was a lot more added to it. It has been a rough couple of months, but now I am through it. I really and truly enjoy Petbrags and still think it is the number one site out there for animal lovers, great people and truly a family site. I have really missed it. So thank-you again, and I hope this finds you all healthy and happy.

YYYEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!The elderly couple adopted ChiChi. He will be going home with them on Saturday. I love for all my guys to get good homes, but when I get extra attached like I have w/ ChiChi it is bittersweet. On Saturday it will be 3 weeks that I have had him with me 24/7.(he goes to work with me) So along with being a happy day that I know he is going to a GREAT home, it will be also a sad one. I will miss the little guy. Now that he has put…

ChiChi Update

Hi!

Looks like I have the perfect candidate for Chi Chi! An older gentleman called today looking for a chi x, and I told him about Chi Chi, apparently they are an older couple and recently lost their 2 chi.'s to old age. So cross your fingers and paws;) he just might have found a good home. I was seriously considering adopting him myself but have decided a household w/ 6 very active kids is not whats BEST for him, the lil bugger has really wormed his way into my heart and I realize I…

Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving getting past over these days so quickly, I wanted to share what I have my children do. I have each of them write a paragraph or two about what they are and have been thankful for over the year. Then they each take turns reading it at dinner. With six kids this can take some time, but every minute is well worth it. I feel it is a very important time of year to reflect, remember and be truly thankful for everyday of our…

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

Here I am again, bright and early, and I might add a very COLD morning. As some of you might know I work at a very small Humane Society, I am going to ramble on (as my dear hubby puts it) PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! when you are considering getting a pet no matter what it may, whether you adopt or purchase, THINK it through. As I posted on my last blog , I was so happy for “Gracie”(a 3 yr old dog, we rescued from Animal Control, housebroken, knows her manners, great w/ kids. Her “owners got…

Today

Today was a great day! I adopted out one kitten Hazel a sweet little orange tabby, one cat Misty who was dumped at our gate this past spring with a litter of kittens, her kittens have long since been adopted out, but poor Misty was over-looked. Kitten Season really hurts the older cats chances of adoption through the Spring and Summer months. (yeeaaaahhhhh! Older cats are really hard to find homes for)Our lil puppy TippyTina went home today, to a really nice couple.… Continue

“Getting a dog is like getting married."

“Getting a dog is like getting married. It teaches you to be less self-centered, to accept sudden, surprising outbursts of affection, and not to be upset by a few scratches on your car.”

A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, big or small, young or old. He doesn't care if you're not smart, not popular, not a good joke-teller, not the best athlete, nor the best-looking person. To your dog, you are the greatest, the smartest, the nicest human being who was ever born. You are his friend and protector.

Decorating with Pets

Decorating when you have pets can provide unique opportunities to express your own personal style and taste. Here are some tips I'd like to share:

  1. Bare floors, without carpet or throw rugs, can give a nice open feeling to a room. It can provide a soothing balance when you have any art objects that reflect your love of animals.

  2. Paw prints and nose smudges on glass doors and windows break up glare and often the light in a room.

  3. Dog crates,…

October is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month

There are nearly 10 million pets that enter animal shelters across the country every year. October is National Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month, which focuses attention on the pet overpopulation problem we have in the United States. With millions of pets to choose from, why not at least check out area shelters to see if the right companion might be waiting for you!

Please visit Petfinder for a list of shelters in your area.
