Today was a great day! I adopted out one kitten Hazel a sweet little orange tabby, one cat Misty who was dumped at our gate this past spring with a litter of kittens, her kittens have long since been adopted out, but poor Misty was over-looked. Kitten Season really hurts the older cats chances of adoption through the Spring and Summer months. (yeeaaaahhhhh! Older cats are really hard to find homes for)Our lil puppy TippyTina went home today, to a really nice couple. Gracie Girl got a home today as well. She is a 3 yr old mix, such a sweet kind loving girl, really hate the fact that she had to wait almost a month for a home. Not all older dogs are used or faulty goods. With an older dog you know what you are getting. And the agency can usually tell you history of the pet. Most older animal relinquishments are through no fault of their own. 80% of the time the are already housebroken, have had some manners training, and have already fully developed their personality. In my a opinion a "Gold Mine." Please keep this in mind in the future if you should happen to ever adopt from a shelter. ;) And now for the icing on the cake! AJ got adopted today! Hooray!!!!!!!! This sweet little lab mix has a tough road behind her. AJ and Aly were dumped on someones property(seems to be the popular thing to do here) when they were very young. Two baby sisters against the world. They were so scared the day I took them in and what a mess they were. Skinny, flea ridden and full of ticks. Petrified to be seperated from one another. A month or so of some TLC they really came around. You could even seperate them without the other one completely freaking out. Aly got a home a month or so ago, which left AJ alone, she did okay, but you could tell she missed her sister. Well, her turn came today and she was adopted by a wonderful family who will I am sure give her all the love and security that she deserves. Sometimes you get attached and it hurts a bit to have them go, but at the end of the day, you can not even explain the feeling you get knowing that they will live happily ever after.
