My husband was out fishing in the mountains today.. He kept hearing an eking sound, at first he thought it was his stomach growling.. He walked past these tall reeds and saw movement, so he snooped over, looked, saw what he thought was a muskrat. So he backed off, then the little guy had seen him, so he comes waddling out of the woods, right up to my husbands foot and snuggles to his boot.. Now conservationists say NEVER handle wild life, but my hubby realized it was a baby +!@#$, that had been attacked by a hawk. My hubby walked away again, the baby followed him, whimpering .. That was it, red picked him up as he was shivering, looked him over, he had 10 puncture wounds from the birds claws, he snuggled in reds hand, tried to suck his thumb, making these baby eking sounds. So red put him down, he immediately went into reds fleece camouflage jacket, curled up, went to sleep .. It was then. Red enlisted some others to drive to the rangers station and get the wardens. They were Asian and did not speak English well, but said very tiny baby +!@#$, injured.. 2 hours later, they kept driving by my husbands and he was using a stick waving his shirt back and forth.. The warden came over and said.. " I saw you across the pond, waving frantically " you see my hubby was late and I worry for him.. Red said, " if you guys didn't show up, I would have taken him into the city" even if it meant a fine " and found a rehab asap for him! The warden said one look in those eyes I couldn't leave him. Karl showed. The conservation officer where the +!@#$ pond was, they coordinated with the wild life rehab, the vet saw him and the conservationists will return him " BUCKY" red called him to his parents, once he's got the all clear. +!@#$s are highly social animals, who do not reject there young.. You can see Buckys size, his body was as long as a ball point pen! And of coarse his flat little +!@#$ tail.. My husband said it was #goodforthesoul he was so happy!
