Hey guys, its my first time posting here, just wanted to say this is a great site =). Okay I think i should share this with you, tell me what you guys think of this. Some kids, (presumably) threw two cats down the compactor in the building I live in. All tenents were horrified, thankfully the cats did not get hurt as the super heard the cries of the cats before the compactor was used. They then lived in the garbage room, a very, very disgusting room adjacent to the garage. One of the cat is a long hair, very beautiful and the other a short hair, also very beautiful. The cat's condition is displicable. I felt sorry for them everytime I saw them, wandering around for weeks in the garbage room and garage. I decided to take them to the humane society on river st. I did that, but now I feel like I did something wrong. Those two had horrible lives, they were once house cats that ate when they're owners feed them to now eating out of the garbage. However they had each other. They both played with each other very, very much and from the little time I knew them I knew that they both very much loved each other. These are not kittens by the way, they would be 1-2 years old.
Did I do the right thing? They were living in filth, eating scrap and longing for any attention. At times when the garage door's gate was fully closed they were in that room for days until the janitor came and let them out. It was so bad that the super and the janitor both felt sorry for the cats. But now they will be cleaned, checked up on, recieve medical attention they def. need, but they won't have each other. The humane society rep. said as I was giving them up that they will probably not go together. The male is soooo shy, he actually hides behind the female, who is more outgoing. What bugs me is that now they are in a metal cage, for god knows how long. WHat if they stay there for months? Years? What if THAT cage is all that becomes of their life?
