Poppy won't eat!!!

Hi guys,

Can anyone please advise me as to why our Poppy dog has stopped eating? She is fed twice daily, Iams Proactive, which she has been on now since December. She usually can't wait to tuck in but, for the last few days she has ignored her food and not even attempted to eat it during the day. She is happy in herself and still loves being around us but she's just not interested in her food. I have tried feeding her by hand, she takes a few biscuits to her bed and then spits them out. She still wants her treats though when she see's " her cupboard " open.

I am getting concerned now as she hasn't eaten a full meal for the last 4 days now. Any advise would be most appreciated.

Comment by PetBrags Pet Lovers Paradise on March 30, 2009 at 8:27pm: You probably need to take her to your Vet. Typically if a doggie doesn't eat for a day or so, no big deal. But, beyond that, something is most likely up. Sorry I can't give much information other than, take her to the Vet. But, seriously, 4 days is too long. The fact that she's eating her treats is good, though. And, I have seen dogs just get sick of a food, and/or the food could be tainted. They are really wonderful about not eating food that has something wrong with it. At least my Westies have always done that.
