Oscar, our beloved adopted boy (August 2008) passed away due to kidney complications (or poor vet advice) Feb 1/10. He is missed every day and was the inspiration to become more involved with rescue dogs by becoming a volunteer at my local shelter, to volunteer as a driver for rescue transports and to form a local rescue in my area.

Our Molly was born in 1995. Even though she is deaf and has cataracts, she still has a spring in her step!

Maggie Mae, one of our shih tzus, is my princess, she is such a cuddler and snuggler.

Lola is our baby, born Jan/10. She has the cutest face with multi colours on her ears and her body is white. Lola is more like a tom boy and is a ball full of energy!

Jake is one of my rescues. He belonged to an older lady who went to a nursing home and her family didn't want him. My husband fell in love with him and Jake is here to stay!

Phoenix is another rescue who also was very ill when my rescue friends brought him from Missouri to Iowa City. After spending several days at the vet clinic, he made a full recovery. He became very attached to Jake because they were room mates for almost a month while Phoenix was recovering. Phoenix is also here to stay!

Zoe was a rescue who travelled to meet her new family in Ontario, Canada. Because of her issues with fear biting, the family decided she was not the right fit for them. Zoe came to stay with us until arrangements were made to send her back to her rescue. She decided she liked it at our home and has become a member of our family.

MollyCat was adopted from our local shelter in Dec/09. She is approx 3 years old and is a brat! Very demanding when she's hungry, makes a lot of noise in the morning when she's ready for food, tosses everything off my shelves and we love her dearly.

BunnyStu is a sweet black/white male rabbit whose previous owner had no time for him. He loves back rubs and loves his fruits and veggies. He makes enough noise jumping around in his cage when he's hungry too!

Was the arrival of your Pet Kid(s) planned or is there a story?

Three of our pet kids were planned, the rescues were not planned originally. They were brought here with the intention of finding excellent homes and loving families. They soon won our hearts over and are not going anywhere.
