Hi Friends,
I just received a gut wrenching phone call from our friend Jacque. Jacque spent many many hours in the early days of this site offering encouragement, help, and assistance to many members and friends. We've become offline friends, as well as online friends. It's hard to even know what to say about the news I received from this phone call. But, it's made me physically ill to receive this news. Jacque's little Westie: Rascal, bolted out of the house yesterday and was hit by a car. He's in ICU and will need several surgeries. They say Rascal will survive this, but the very sad news is: he will lose his eyesight. I am just sick for Jacque, Rascal, and her whole family. They are devastated to say the least.
They all have a long road ahead of them, for Rascal's recovery will take quite some time. Please help me pray for Jacque, Rascal, John her husband, and their little Yorkie: Sassy. Sassy will have to be Rascal's eyes now. It's been my experience that Jacque and John will probably suffer more than Rascal, with the loss of Rascal's eyesight. I am always amazed at how quickly our sweet little animals adapt. I have no doubt that Rascal will rally and have many wonderful years of life ahead of him. My biggest prayer is for God to give Jacque and John peace about this. It was a freak accident. They are such wonderful pet parents, and love their animals like their children.
Let Jacque and Rascal know you're thinking of them during this difficult time:

Let's all add them to our prayers, and offer our loving support.
Jacque, if you read this - - we don't want you to feel you have to reply. We all know you have your hands full, and likely too upset to talk about this. Just know we're here, and we care. Sending love your way...
Sincerely,
Jen

Bless little Rascal, and you for caring for him so beautifully. I think about you all everyday, and remember you in my prayers. I hope he's adjusting well to the blindness. I don't even like the word. I think Rascal will adjust better than any of us who loves him. Keep your chin up Jacque. I know this is terribly difficult for you. Just remember, Rascal knows you love him. And really, that's what matters the most.
Best to you as always,
Jen

I just spoke with Jacque and got a good update on our Rascal Boy. He's home and resting well. She said he had wagged his tail, ate a little, and snuggled up to Sassy. Jacque has put a bell on Sassy's collar so Rascal knows when Sassy is approaching. And she's already working on all kinds of things that will help Rascal get around and know where he is in the house. Anyhow, sounds like he's doing very well considering all he's been through.
Thanks for the update Jacque.
Thinking of you,
Jen
