Jet Li's First Camping trip

I absolutely love camping and do it every chance I get. I love hiking trails or walking with my dogs. Shelby, Shyann, and Pete know the ropes to the camping world. Kylee is still new at it and this was Jet Li's first time. Yes, camping with all five dogs. I was ready for the trails, only we realized with five dogs it took work and getting everyone settled in. We got a baby fence For Kylee and Jet Li, but Kylee jumped over it. Jet Li can't be let off lead at any time accept in the trailer. Dogs… Continue

Another Breakthrough for Pepper - Playing with Other Canines!

A little over a day ago at the dog park, a white dog wanted to play with Pepper by a startling jump-like motion. (I don't know how to describe it.) Pepper mimicked this behavior and they did this back and forth a few times. Today a female brindle Boxer showed up at the park. She had energy and was running around. To my disbelief, Pepper playfully chased her at top speed for nearly an hour! This is just another step for Pepper's socialization. I was beginning to wonder if he would ever learn to… Continue

Lost Dog?

Around 11:40 Bailey & I left home for a nice long walk. We crossed the street, went down the block, then across the field, to the entrance to the Woodland Trail. I always let him off the leash here as we are well away from any traffic. He's good about staying close. To reinforce this, periodically, I call him to me, make him sit, then he gets his reward treat. I also play hide & seek with him by ducking behind a tree & waiting for him to come find me, when he does, he gets a reward.… Continue

Air Fresheners Kill!

Q: I use air fresheners in my home, but have been told I shouldn't. Are they bad for my health?

A: It certainly looks like they are. Recent research strongly suggests that they raise your risk of a number of pulmonary diseases. Last year researchers found that being exposed to chemicals from air fresheners as little as once a week may increase your odds of developing asthma symptoms by 71 percent. And a 2006 study showed that people with high blood levels of the chemical 1,4… Continue

Science Diet Pet Food....It seems that pets are getting sick from eating this food.I

Surf of Pearcy AR (06/13/08)

I am very unsettled by the Science Diet dry dog food. I have worked in the veterinary field for 5 years now, when my shepherd was a puppy naturally I started her on the best food I could buy and considering where I worked I thought I was doing the right thing. I noticed she produced frequent stools through out the day (even more than usual for a pup) So I switched her to Purina Puppy food and she did much better. I continued to feed that with no problem for… Continue
