local speech

im always fascinated by local dialects. here in pittsburgh we also have our share of funny words that we use everyday.

crick -creek

gum band- rubber band

yinz- you

jumbo- baloney

red up- cleaning-

pop- soda

dahn town- down town

stillers- steelers

sandmich- sandwich

you can always tell a pittsburgher by his speech. do yinz have any you would like to share?

a couple of years ago i was visiting am elderly home when i met a 90 year old lady. when she talked her speech sounded familiar. so i asked her where was she from,she wouldn't tell me. lol so i said trieste, italy . she was stunned. i was stationed in the army near there and 45 years later it still rang a bell lol

kathi my dad instead of swearing he would say baloney sauce. lol btw that lady was a young teen when a battle rage on during ww2. she said and i quote the victors ran over all the men  laying there with tanks to make sure they were dead. i can't imagine wittnessing that

if memory serves me right pop got its name at the worlds fair. the bottles were rounded on the bottom so you stacked them on its side like wine bottles. every so often the corks would blow off and make a popping sound. lol

a close friend of mine has a speech all is own ,one day he told me his footses were hurting him and i said yeah sure and princes di crashed because the pepperonies were chasing her. mawahaha boy did he get mad at me lol

Brother- our  kid

girlfriend-  Me judy
