I have watch many a dog get loose from it's companion
for a variety of reasons, so I need everyone to know this:

When you dog does get loose,
ALWAYS PRAISE THEM for returning to you.
NEVER SCOLD THEM!
They will associate the return with happiness
thus want to return.

If you scold them, they will associate that with returning
and not want to
return.

Skin Allergies:

If your doggie has a tendency to have red skin due to allergies, a great home remedy to give some relief is 100% pure Witch Hazel. It is a great astringent with soothing properties, that's even great for acne or other human skin irritations. You should be able to purchase a bottle for a few dollars in any store that carries pharmaceuticals.

Witch Hazel Use:

Saturate a cotton ball and apply on irritated skin or hot spots, for several days.

Baking Soda works well too:

Apply a mixture of baking soda and water to irritated skin. Or, a great way to sooth your doggie's irritated skin quickly - - fill a sink or tub with warm water. Add several tablespoons of baking soda and mix in the water by sloshing/moving water with your clean hands. Try to encourage your dog to soak for a few minutes, the longer the better.

These tips could work for cats as well. Since I do not own a cat, I can't say for sure.

If you have a hi-speed internet connection and you want to speed-up or help keep your browser running fast then remember to delete your "Temporary Internet Files (cache)" and "cookies" nightly before you shut-down your comp. For IE go to TOOLS - DELETE BROWSING HISTORY then check those two items and click DELETE at the bottom. For FireFox go to TOOLS - CLEAR RECENT HISTORY and do the same. If you haven't cleared your cache for awhile this can make a signifigant improvement in your browser speed and also gets rids of any un-necessary files/cookies that may build-up and slow down your comp.

If you have an electric stove with the coiled exposed elements then take a coat-hanger and cut a piece long enough to make a triangle that covers the element from side-to-side. When placed on the element it will help keep your food from sticking to the bottom of the pot or pan and will also help the food to cook more evenly.

To keep pets away from your furniture or flowerbeds add one tsp. of cayenne pepper to one quart of boiling water. Remove from heat and cool. Pour contents through a coffee-filter to remove all particles then fill a squirt/spray bottle with the liquid contents. Now spray around the bottom of your furniture or onto your flowerbeds/gardens to keep pets away. It will not harm either your furniture or flowers but pets will hate it :)

I absolutely love coming across household tips. I will read, study, and memorize them. I try to use them whenever I can! It’s always neat to find new ways to use an item differently or try something new all together. We can definitely benefit from keeping food fresher longer or using kitchen gadgets for purposes other than originally made. I know some of these tips have been around for ages, but there were a few I hadn’t seen before!

1. Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drip.
2. Use a meat baster to squeeze your pancake batter onto the hot griddle and you’ll get perfectly shaped pancakes every time.
3. To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.
4. To prevent egg shells form cracking, add a pinch of salt to the water before hard-boiling.
5. To determine whether an egg is fresh, immerse in a pan of cool, salted water. If it sinks, it’s fresh, but if it floats, throw it away.
6. When boiling corn on the cob add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the corn’s natural sweetness.
7. Run your hands under cold water before pressing Rice Krispies treats in the pan and the marshmallow won’t stick to your fingers.
8. To get the most juice out of fresh lemons, bring them to room temperature and roll them under your palm against the kitchen counter before squeezing.
9. To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet simply add a drop or two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan and bring to a boil on stove-top.
10. Spray your Tupperware with nonstick cooking spray before pouring in tomato-based sauces and there won’t be any stains.
11. When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won’t be any white mess on the outside of the cake.
12. If you accidently over-salt a dish while it’s still cooking drop in a peeled potato and it will absorb the excess salt for an instant “fix.”
13. Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in a refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.
14. Brush some beaten egg white over pie crust before baking to yield a beautiful glossy finish.
15. Place a slice of apple in hardened brown sugar to soften it.
Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.
16. If you a problem opening jars: Try using latex dishwashing gloves. They have a great non-slip grip!
17. Potatoes will take food stains off your fingers. Just slice and rub raw potato on the stains and rinse with water.
18. To get rid of itch from mosquito bites, try applying soap on the area and you will experience instant relief.
19. Ants are said never to cross a chalk line. So, get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants tend to march.
20. Use air-freshener to clean mirrors. It does a good job and better still leaves a lovely smell to the shine.
21. When you get a splinter, reach for the scotch tape before resorting to tweezers or a needle. Place tape over splinter, then pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.
22. Don’t throw out all the leftover wine: Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces.
