I was a stray in a small Missouri town

I don't know what happened. One day I had a home and I was a happy pup with a love-for-life spirit, and then I just didn't. I was wandering the streets, getting my dinner from garbage cans, when I could get it. I had lost weight. But I hadn't lost my love-for-life spirit. I wound up in the Shelter. But the ladies there noticed my happy spirit and one of them called Sheltie Shack Rescue of Kansas and spoke with a lady I call my fairy dog mother, Auntie Linda. She knew her friend was looking to help another little Sheltie who needed a home. But first I had to stay in the Shelter until my 'holding date' passed. One day I was bitten on my leg by a big dog in the Shelter. There were just too many of us all together, and I don't really like being around too many other big dogs. It was a bad enough bite to need some stitches. Finally my holding date passed and no one came to claim me. But my fairy dog mother Auntie Linda called the Shelter to make arrangements to get me to Kansas. A whole bunch of people I didn't even know worked together to transport me from Missouri to Sheltie Shack Rescue of Kansas. My Auntie Linda called her friend, and said I was out of the Shelter, but that I needed to stay with her for a few days while I got checked out by her vet. He looked at my leg and ran some tests. In a few days Auntie Linda called her friend and told her "He's ready to come home!" And so, on a dark and stormy night in January I found my Forever Home with my new Forever Mom and dad. I knew she had been sad because she had lost her special Little Big Man, Connor at Christmas time. I could feel it. And I had lost my other home, and she could feel that. But I never lost my love-for-life spirit and when she picked me up in her arms, she could feel that too. And now everyday, I see her smiling and laughing when I meet her at the door. She smiles whenever I wake her up at 6:00 AM on Saturday, or when I bark at the birds in the yard, or when I chase a butterfly in the garden. I'm a happy pup, with a love-for-life spirit.
