A Professional Pet sitter must be BONDED and INSURED. Some petsitters aren't bonded because it deals with theft of property and the suspect must be caught and prosecuted to get your item/claim returned. So some are now just being insured...I chose to be bonded to make my clients feel better and isn't a bad idea for a new business but once established and your clients know you it isn't a necessity.
PSI is PET SITTERS INTERNATIONAL NAPPS and PUPS are places to look for certified/Insured and bonded, and some licensed pet sitters.

On the Ads I see on TV they indicate that there is a Care.com on the net to click on to see if you are in need of a caregiver, house sitter, petsitter, pet walker, etc for you to locate in your area. Won't hurt to give it a chance.
