Essentials of Planning a Pet Party

Since your furry companion is no less than a member of the family, you are always available to have fun with him. Celebrating your dog’s birthday or rejoicing any occasion can prove to be a day of unlimited memories. You just have to plan it well. Go through the tips mentioned below and get the party started…..

1.  First and foremost, decide on the venue: If you are planning a small celebration, you could host the party at your house. But, on the other hand, it is also natural that dogs will be happier in bigger space and a different venue can keep them away from being defensive. A garden party, picnic in the park, or trip to the beach may act like an idyllic location.

2.  Timing is the next priority: While celebrating a birthday or Christmas or Easter or any other special day with dogs and their owners, it is imperative to rest assured that the duration of the event is feasible. Probably, an hour or so is long enough and the ideal time is from 2pm to 3pm, as there will not be a main course meal required. Snacks and tea/coffee will do flawlessly!

3.  Party dining arrangements: List down a proper menu for dogs and their owners. To mention, dogs will definitely love their liver cakes, chopped cheese, carrot, chicken, raw hide, bones and other dog treats. And for the owners, you can always go with the cupcakes, and that too the dog-themed ones like- in the shape of paw prints. Most importantly, keep lot of fresh water for dogs, one bowl per dog will be great if you can do. Tip for this point is- Place food in separate areas to avoid any mix-ups.

4.  Deck up the area where the party takes place: Give your creative streak a push and decorate the entire place with posters, paw-print themed tablecloths, banners, napkins, and paper plates. You have a choice of buying a lot of goodies online but it is better to make with your own ideas.  Pooches cab get involved with lovely sticks and colorful boards to play with. Tip here is- please shun using balloons as it will scare dogs when they pop near or around them.

5.  Sending invites to the guests: With anticipated date, time and venue, it is significant to send the invites in good time. Opt for a theme making it more intriguing for both, dogs and owners, such as Christmas capers or Easter bunnies. In the invite itself, impart the detailed information about the themed event so that people have the chance to dress up and also to make their pooch ready with the same theme. It is always the best idea to invite dogs almost of similar heights and attitude, whom your own dog gets along with really well already.

6.  Presents and Goody bags: Put in order some dog-themed party bags to gift to the dogs and owners. The contents inside need not to be necessarily luxurious and expensive, but it can be of any scope and nature as you like. For example, you can go with a decorated paper bag having the leftovers of your dog treat, or a small toy, and even a home-made bandana would do well. Handing out the goody bags is a good way to convey that the event is towards its closure soon.

7. Fun and games: Fun games for dogs and owners are a perfect idea to give the best of time and interesting experience.  Hiding things and tracking time of dogs and owners to find it, sounds fun! Pieces of sausage in water and letting dogs get them back will keep them occupied in an enthralling task. Plus, music played in the backdrop will keep everyone entertained as well.

8.  Safety is the first and foremost subject of concern:  De facto, depending on the situation and type of environ, even the most calm and composed type of dog can become aggressive and hyper. To avoid such a mess, please ensure that all dogs are supervised by their owners and are not left alone anytime during the party. Keep the poo bags ready beforehand in case of any emergencies and accidents. First aid kit plays the key player here!!

Top party tips

  • A pet party is like an iron in the fire to raise funds for dog charity. Call people to contribute or place out a collection box wherein dog-owners can drop loose change.
  • Don’t miss on capturing the moments of esteem. Click a lot of pictures, print a snap for everyone, put in an envelope and send it off to the guests with a note of thanks.
  • Prepare a paddling pool with water. Let the dogs sink in and enjoy splashing around. However, it is wise not to allow all the dogs in at the same time.

If you have taken an account of all the points in this article, you are ready to send invites to the pooches around with their owners of course.

Now organize the party, relax, and enjoy!!

I like the idea of the paddling pool for puppy summer parties.  I bet they would have a lot of fun with that one!
