Was the arrival of your Pet Kid(s) planned or is there a story?

Jasper came to me after my childhood cat passed away.
Kovu was a rescue, his previous owner wanted to just throw him away, literally. They asked me to go throw him in the nearest body of water, instead, I brought him home, and for the last month he has been at my side.
