sweet heart

my fiance and i decided to adopt a kitty friend for teddy bear and we were hoping for a kitten but once i saw sweet heart and heard her story i had to have her.
her original owners abandoned her and her mother and sister and left them LOCKED in a house. when they were found the mother and sister were dead and sweet heart was near death and completely terrified of people. the lady that i got her from had her locked in a room with a completely wild cat but when i first held her she acted a little scared but normal..
we got in the car to go home and i had her in my arms.. we forgot the cat carrier at the house and i honestly thought i could handle her.. but she proved to be more wild than i thought. as soon as our doors closed she bit my hand and gnawed on it as i screemed in pain for about a min and a half.. finally she let go and bounced off of my window ran across the dash to my fiances side and launched off of him scratching his arm.. she ran into the windows a few times and finally i got a shirt out of the back of the car and threw it over her and she instantly calmed down.. i held her covered up with the shirt for a while till i noticed how bad my hand was bleeding so i grabbed a huge over the shoulder bag that breathes well and put her in it.. she was perfectly happy after that till we got home..
she was a horrible mess. it looked and smelled like she had slept in a litter box her whole life so we decided to give her a bath.. as soon as i went to turn on the bath she darted around the bathroom like a mad cat and started banging herself into the window.. i told my fiance to not touch her because i was gonna throw a towel on her but he did not listen and as i turned around to grab the towel he attempted to pin her and she latched onto his hand.. i yelled at him and threw the towel over her and she instantly calmed down. i was able to give her the whole bath with that towel over her head.. something about it calmed her..
after that her and teddy did not get along for about a week. she was just too scared of everything to really warm up to anything but me and even then the only time i could handle her was when i was very still. she would hide out under the bed and even when i gave her canned food she would eat a few bites then act like something was after her and run back under the bed..
now shes still a bit on the crazy side but she loooooves teddy and the new kittens. i can handle her and give her baths fine but she still prefers to not be handled.. petting her is fine but picking her up makes her uncomfy. but we love her and would not trade her for the world <3
