How did your dog/cat/horse/bird/ get it's name?

 

Berty was names after my father-in-law who passed away 20 years ago.....

 

Abigail was names after my friends dog back in Africa - Abigail was dog I loved very much......

Connor is the name I gave my greyhound from Spain where he was born to race at the mobile tracks like both his sire and dam. Stolen from that track and dumped in Madrid how he got away is a mystery to this day. He was on the brink of starvation when found thirteen months old he had laid down in front of the main gates of the royal palace in Madrid. he survived it all he was victorious hence his name it is old Gaelic and means victory. His sire and dam were both Irish exports his sire died age five the whereabouts and fate of his dam is unknown. What I do know is that I love my Connor as much now as I did when I saw him for the first time at the airport in Copenhagen.Then there is Tristan so named because he was issued with a racing name and nothing else this regal greyhound was named "Looks This Way" I named him Tristan as he is regal and he too is a survivor he was raced at the worst death track in the UK namely Owlerton in Sheffield he survived that. I am owner nr 6 of this beautiful soul. His past was traumatic he is deeply loved and my hands on rescue. Darcy is named after the novel by Jane Austen titled Pride and Prejudice.The male caracter is called Darcy a tall proud sort of fellow that reminds me of my Darcy former known as Killcullen Boss. Then there is Mike my whippet the name on his pedigree certificate is Mickey my sister had a daschhund by that name so I named my then new whippet Mike and it suits him. Simpel reasons for names and a reflection of the love I have for each of them.

KANGA  GOT HIS NAME  BY THE STAFF THAT LOOKED AFTER HIM IN THE RESCUE CENTRE   THE REASON FOR CALLING HIM KANGA  1ST HE WAS  NAMED AFTER KANGA FROM WINNIE THE PHOO AND ALSOBECAUSE AS A PUPPY HE KICKED HIS SIBLINGS  LIKE A KANGAROO KICKS
