My Beautiful Scruffy

The best dog that I ever had. We rescued him from the humane society when he was somewhere between 2 and 5 years old. He was my Christmas present. I'm almost sure that he is the same dog that I saw at a local dog pound the week before. I wanted him then. I feel that we were destined to be together. His name was Speedy when we adopted him, but it didn't fit him because he was so mellow. We changed it to Scruffy. Also to erase bad memories, because we believe he was abused.

Scruffy was devoted to us from the minute we brought him home. A neighbor came over and put his hand out to pat my toddler on the head. Scruffy got right in the middle and growled at him.

Scruffy lived about 10 more happy years with us before we had to make the decision to put him down. It broke my heart, but he was in pain and it was for the best. That was right before Thanksgiving, about 4 years ago. Not a day goes by that I don't still think of him.

Scruffy, I will love you forever and will see you over the Rainbow Bridge. Play and be happy my baby boy!
