Still hope for the Exmoor Emperor

Reports are coming out in the British Press that it may be a false alarm after all. What is thought to be the largest deer in the UK was reported to have been killed by hunters last week to the consternation of animal lovers all over Britain, but reports of sightings from locals may prove that the worst has not happened.

Whatever the truth, and in the end the truth will usually out, it is a crying shame that there is any price tag on the head of any animal, and that anybody would be so cold hearted as to try to claim this majestic beast for their trophy cabinet.

Hopefully the local Devon police will be out in force, in collaboration with the local animal protection authorities, scouring the countryside for any signs of the deer and the hunters. It is about time we animal lovers created so much pressure that this kind of behaviour and make it completely unacceptable in British society.

we've been fighting the same battle in the states. take all the land for ourselves {more than we'd ever need}, then shoot the animals b/c we've left them no room to live, at our *convenience*. very sad.
